Only 36 days to go

Last night was quiz night with pie & peas in The Parish Hall. Considering the season it seemed appropriate to have only one pie and a small amount of peas. It was a good night that ended up with dancing till past 11.00pm! Gill and I were delighted that the three dances we know, modern waltz, square tango and Caribbean calypso all came up and I was able to whisk her around the floor like an 85 year old. Today in Newburn we have a visit from the president, well not ‘the’ president, but rather the president of a structural engineers thing. In the briefing paper it never mentions who they are or where they are from, it just refers to ‘the president’. The president is arriving on BA flight BA1326 at 10.50am and is expected at Newburn Parish Church at 11.30am. The president is then having lunch at Ramside Hall, Durham (no I have not been invited – and I bet the food is not as good as The Lunch Box in Newburn) before looking at a bridge in Stockton and then on to Middlesbrough for a night in the Thistle Hotel. (Now that’s the sort of Job I could do) Being the vicar of Newburn is better.
