The date has been set for the church opening. Saturday 22 March at 11.00am, St Michael and All Angels will be open for business. The Bishop of Newcastle, The Rt Rev’d Martin Wharton, will re dedicate St Michael’s at the 11.00am service. The Church is due to be handed over to the parish on Maundy Thursday which is the second anniversary of the devastating fire, so we only have a short time to get things ready for the opening on the Saturday. Following the 11.00am service on the Saturday the church will be open to visitors until 4.00pm and refreshments will be served in the parish hall. The opening day will be followed by Easter Day celebrations at 10.30am. I am sure this will be a memorable weekend in the life of Newburn.
