Since the church was opened at Easter we have been monitoring the tower. It has been traumatic watching the tower move from side to side, despite the structural engineer tells me that is the best kind of movement to have. Backwards and forwards is better than going all one way. The tower has also been getting wider, I know it's hard to believe, but we measure it very carefully. Each day as I walk past I am pleased to see a) It has not fallen over and b) It has not burst. I am only able to write this because the latest indication is that things are not as bad as they might be. Oh the joys of ancient buildings. But we wouldn't want to swap it!
